Check out our  coaching services page! While  both therapy and coaching aim to support individuals in achieving personal growth and change, they differ in their approaches, focus areas, and professional standards. The choice between therapy and coaching often depends on the individual's needs, preferences, and the nature of the challenges they are facing..

Recovery coaching is a non-clinical, person-centered service that supports individuals in achieving and maintaining recovery. Recovery coaches provide guidance, accountability, encouragement, and practical resources to help clients set goals, overcome challenges, build healthy routines, and navigate their recovery journey. Unlike therapists, recovery coaches focus on personal growth, wellness, and long-term recovery support rather than clinical treatment.

Talk therapy focuses on processing thoughts, emotions, and experiences through conversation. Body-based therapy incorporates awareness of physical sensations, breath, movement, and nervous system regulation to support healing. Many people benefit from a combination of both approaches.  Therapeutic approaches may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Somatic (Body-Based) Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Informed Care, and Solution-Focused Therapy. The specific approach is tailored to each individual's needs, goals, and preferences.

A 24Q evaluation is a court-ordered alcohol and drug assessment required under Massachusetts law (M.G.L. c. 90, §24Q) for individuals charged with Operating Under the Influence (OUI). It is conducted by an approved provider to evaluate substance use history and determine whether education, treatment, or additional services are needed as part of court requirements.

A SUD (substance use disorder) evaluation is an assessment sometimes required by the courts, the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV), or employers to determine whether a person has a substance use disorder or substance-related concerns, often following a substance-related incident or OUI/DUI offense. The evaluation helps determine the appropriate level of education, treatment, or support needed and may be used to inform requirements for license reinstatement, eligibility, or compliance monitoring.

Therapy can help individuals in long-term sobriety continue building stability, address underlying issues that contributed to substance use, and strengthen coping skills. It can also support relapse prevention, emotional regulation, relationship repair, and personal growth. After the first year of sobriety, therapy often shifts toward maintaining recovery, improving mental health, and supporting long-term life goals.

Learning more about your relationship with gambling, substances, and compulsive behaviors can help you better understand patterns, triggers, and motivations behind your actions. This awareness can support healthier decision-making, improve self-control, and reduce harmful or impulsive behaviors. It can also strengthen coping skills, increase emotional regulation, and help you build more intentional habits that align with your values and long-term goals.

Complex care needs in behavioral health care refer to situations where an individual is managing multiple, interacting conditions that require coordinated and ongoing support. This may include mental health conditions, substance use disorders, medical concerns, trauma histories, cognitive challenges, and social stressors such as housing or legal issues.

Mental health support is essential because it helps improve emotional regulation, reduce symptoms, strengthen coping skills, and enhance overall functioning and quality of life. Self-management strategies are evidence-based tools that empower individuals to actively participate in their care by building skills, setting goals, and using coping techniques that support long-term stability, recovery, and well-being.
